Kryptek Outdoor Group Hires Kevin Holland As VP Of Research And Development

EAGLE, Id. The cutting-edge camouflage and apparel solutions company, Kryptek Outdoor Group, hires Kevin “Skinner” Holland as vice president of research and development.

When it comes to research and development, a company like Kryptek needs someone with a broad resume. You don’t embark on a journey to turn the hunting and tactical worlds on their heads with skills like “cuts corners” or “managed a sweat shop making sneakers.” As a Veteran-owned enterprise respected around the world on both battlefields and big game hunts, it was going to take someone special to fill this role. We found that person in Kevin Holland.

Kevin has earned both the SEAL Trident and Special Forces Tab, a high bar on the best of days. But he is also the only man to have served in both Naval Special Warfare Development Group and 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-D. He sets the bar high, having earned both. That is a feat bordering on Legendary.

Kevin has seen combat in a wide variety of theaters across three decades. He has been wounded twice and served 20 tours in the Middle East. He graduated from – and taught at – SEAL Sniper School, as well as conducted real world missions. Speaking of missions, between Navy and Army career, Kevin logged over 2,000 of them. Along the way, we think he might have learned a couple of things about equipment that works, as well as what doesn’t. Kevin is actually the man that brought Winkler Knives into the Special Operations Community, long before he worked with Daniel Winkler on product development. If you have ever picked one up, you understand what that means.

Between military services, somehow Kevin found the time to qualify and work as a Wildlife Enforcement Officer. With his love of the outdoors, that seemed a natural career field to follow. While no longer carrying a badge, Kevin still spends plenty of time in the woods pursuing his passions. As an active big game hunter and trapper, Kevin has hunted all over the world, from Africa to the North Pole.

Some companies hire an impressive resume, but at Kryptek, we believe in a deeper bond. Kevin isn’t just some guy we found with impressive credentials. One of the founders of Kryptek flew missions with him as part of a Special Operation Task Force. With a mutual love hunting, they became fast friends. When Kevin retired, he was a natural choice to fill the bill as Chief of R&D. There is no better authenticator than having fought together, to find out what someone is made of.

He sounds like something out of a Hollywood movie, but Kevin is very real indeed. When he isn’t out, uh, “field testing” new products in exotic locales, he is hard at work pushing our designers to the limits. If it doesn’t get Kevin’s stamp of approval, it doesn’t get the Kryptek brand. If you need a jacket to wear to the golf course in a light drizzle, we are sure you have plenty of options. But if you need a hell-and-back piece of kit, you want Kevin to have tested it first.
