Whitetails Unlimited Awards $5,000 Grant for NASP/IBO National 3D Challenge
Whitetails Unlimited provided a $5,000 grant to the NASP/IBO National 3D Challenge for individual and team scholarships awarded at the 2017 National Archery in the Schools Program National Tournament held in Louisville, Kentucky. Whitetails Unlimited has been a charter sponsor of the 3D Challenge since its inception in 2014.

This year, state fish and wildlife agencies conducted 42 state NASP tournaments with nearly 300,000 kids competing to be among the 14,492 eligible to attend the annual national tournament. The NASP/IBO 3D Challenge portion entertained 4,123 shooters – 600 more than last year. This was the fourth year in a row that the event set a new record for the largest 3D archery event in the world. Looking ahead, additional states are considering IBO when it comes to conducting their state's 3D Challenge.

Shooters competed in elementary, middle school, and high school divisions. Like previous tournaments, there were 20 flights and each flight was 75 minutes in length. As the bull's-eye competition commenced, each archer took to their assigned lane, where each shot 5 practice and 15 scoring arrows from both 10 and 15 meter shooting lanes. A perfect score of 300 (30 bull's-eyes) has never been shot at Nationals, but several shooters always come close. Congratulations to all the participants and their individual achievements!
