Elite Pros Win at ASA Pro/Am

West Henrietta, NY – Elite Archery had an outstanding amount of wins at the ASA Easton Pro/Am Tournament in Foley, Alabama this past weekend with 5 professional podium finishes across 3 divisions. Both Tommy Gomez and Jacob Marlow placed 1st in the first 3D event of the season with their new Elite bows.

"All I can really say is 'Wow!'" said Elite Archery President Eric Griggs. "For our guys to come out in the first 3D shoot of the year and perform like this is amazing. Getting podium finishes is great. Winning is even better, but to claim both the 1st and 2nd place positions in both of the men's pro classes is incredible. For the two champions, Tommy and Jacob, this is their first time even competing at a 3D event with their new equipment. Both of these guys are accomplished, but to take their Elite bows and top the entire field out of the gate is very impressive. The Foley ASA was another testament to the accuracy and shootability of our bows. Elite shooters once again found themselves on the podium in many classes. We are really enjoy seeing everyone's success shooting an Elite."

This was the ASA opener of the season and archers from around the country gathered to test their 3D skills. Traditionally, the Open Pro Division has garnered the most amount of top competitors, but Foley proved that the Known Pro Division is on the rise, with many top archers choosing to shoot with known distances.

"My weekend started a little slow, but it was an extremely tough course so I wasn't too concerned" said Jacob Marlow who won the Known Pro Division shooting his Elite Victory 37. "My switch to Elite has given me more confidence in my equipment than ever. With Elite bows I feel like my shots that aren't so great still have a chance at hitting the 12 and the confidence I have in the shootability of the Victory 37 makes the pressure of a winning shot feel just like a shot on the practice range. In the shootdown I was able to hit 5 out of 6 12's including a 12 on my final shot to win by two points."

"Instead of spending my season practicing judging distances, I can work more on my bow setup and shot sequence," said Elite Archery pro Chance Beaubouef who took home second place in the Known Pro Division.

Darrin Christenberry, however, chose to compete in the Open Pro Division and spent a lot of time studying the 3D targets he was up against. His choice paid off, as he also landed a second place finish.

"When I arrived to check my sight tape, the bow was shooting so good and grouping at every distance, it allowed me to put 100% of my efforts, into studying targets," said Christenberry. "My Victory 39 (68#, 30" mod), Winners Choice Strings, and my CBE Vertex sight were my shooting platform. I used a Scott Sigma (thumb trigger) for the 40 target round and switched to the new Scott Advantage for the shoot down. That allowed me to execute perfectly when the pressure was on and work my way to a 2nd place finish!"

Tommy Gomez also competed in the Open Pro Division with the 2017 Elite Revol and dominated the field to take 1st place, putting Elite in the top 2 podiums for the Open Pro Division.

"This weekend was a test of patience," said Gomez. "I wasn't executing good shots and had to take it one target at a time. I learned a lot about my Revol this weekend. It continued to find its mark even when I wasn't at my 100 percent."

Elite shooter Michael Braden also took home second place in his ASA senior pro debut.
