S3DA Holds National Coordinators Conference

Louisville, KY - Pape's Inc, in Louisville, Kentucky was host to Scholastic 3-D Archery's inaugural National Coordinators Conference. Hosted by the National S3DA office, the conference was attended by state and regional coordinators from 22 different states. Coordinators were able to gain insight on the best practices for running their programs, learn about new developments in the program, review the rules and rules changes for 2017, familiarize themselves with the new Outdoor Target format for the 2017 season, and much more.

Sponsors, partners, and select manufacturers provided some incredible gear for the conference attendees. Gear included gifts from Tru-Ball/Axcel, Bohning, Wildlife Research, Bear, Extreme Archery, USCA, ASA, NFAA, Raised Hunting, US International Archer Magazine, The Pope and Young Club, Pearson, and Lancaster Archery Supply.

"It was a tremendous opportunity for all of those in attendance to network and share best practices," said Derek Marshall, Outreach Coordinator for Scholastic 3-D Archery. "S3DA has a tremendous set of volunteers that are rapidly advancing archery and bow hunting."

"Driving home from the National S3DA Leadership Conference and I can't help but think how blessed I am to be part of such an incredible organization," said Jason Minnamon, New York State Coordinator for Scholastic 3-D Archery. "I was able to meet and network with 48 State and regional coordinators representing 22 states and it was such a humbling experience to see all of the effort and dedication that is going into our sport of archery and into our youth. If you don't know about this organization please take a minute or two and visit www.s3da.org . Also, if you are interested in starting up a school, club, team or being a part of the program in NY or know of anyone that would be please pass along my contact information jminnamon@pinnacle-athletic.com. Special thanks to Jennie Richardson, Dee Falks and the whole crew at S3DA for allowing me to present and for entertaining us all weekend. 2017 is going to be a great year for the program."

Started in December 2012 by the Scholastic Archery Association, S3DA has grown exponentially as a next step program to follow introductory programs offered as part of 4-H or the National Archery in Schools Program. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving thousands of young archers, grades 3–12.
