S3DA Names California State Coordinator

Louisville, KY - Continuing the growth of their youth archery program, Scholastic 3-D Archery has named David Allain as the new S3DA California State Coordinator. As the State Coordinator, David will oversee all aspects of the S3DA program in California, including tournaments, training and dividing the state into regions, allowing S3DA participants multiple monthly competition venues as close as possible to their home location. David will also recruit and hire Regional Coordinators to oversee and manage these individual regions.

"David is enthusiastic, passionate and really enjoys teaching archery," said Jennie Richardson, Executive Director for Scholastic 3-D Archery. "I'm looking forward to watching him move S3DA across California."

David lives in Valley Springs, California with his wife and three children. He believes everyone deserves to have an opportunity to learn the sport of archery regardless of their disabilities, social economic status or physical ability. David challenges himself to learn to teach anyone who shows a desire to achieve greater results in the sport of archery. He also believes archery is for all ages and interests. "Archery should be a sport offered in all schools in America, says David. "I make it my mission to spread the life long sport of archery across the globe."

"I got into archery after doing an internet search and discovered Diablo Bowmen Archery club was only 20 minutes from my house," says David Allain, new California State Coordinator for Scholastic 3-D Archery. "Diablo was having an open house event, so I took my wife and three kids. Soon after we joined Diablo Bowmen and I became hooked on archery. I decided the best way to learn how to become a better archer was to take an archery instructor course. I took the USA Archery course and started teaching all three of my children and then my friend's children."

"I started a National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) at Excelsior middle school," adds David. "I became an instructor trainer and taught many teachers and volunteers how to run the NASP program in their schools. I have enjoyed the privilege of coaching hundreds of youth to become successful in the Nation Archery In The Schools Program. Currently, I run the NASP program at Toyon Middle School and Calaveras High School. Some students wanted more than what the NASP program offered. High school students were asking me to teach them how to shoot bows with sights and they wanted to compete in 3-D tournaments. I found Scholastic 3-D Archery (S3DA) was a perfect program to bridge this gap to provide what my students were looking for. I believe S3DA will become a huge sport in California and I am proud to be a part of it. I am currently a member of Lodi Bowmen and they will be running the first S3DA team in the State of California. I think about archery everyday. Archery is who I am and I strive to constantly continue to teach and study the sport of archery. Archery is a huge part of my life and I hope I can give back to archery as much as it has given me.

Started in December 2012 by the Scholastic Archery Association, S3DA has grown exponentially as a next step program to follow introductory programs offered as part of 4-H or the National Archery in Schools Program. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving thousands of young archers, grades 3– 12.
