MDC to Host Women's Basic Archery Workshop

COLUMBIA, Mo. –The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will host a Discover Nature -- Women's Basic Archery Workshop to introduce women to archery basics. The workshop will consist of a brief classroom session, followed by a practical session, to include mentored shooting.

The workshop will take place 5:30 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, at the MDC Central Region Office, 3500 E. Gans Road in Columbia.

"Archery is a great way to enjoy Missouri's outdoors," said MDC Outdoor Skills Specialist Brian Flowers. "A basic understanding of equipment and technique can open up many opportunities to get out and discover nature."
This exciting and educational experience will introduce women to the basics of archery safety, shooting techniques, equipment, target shooting, and hunting. The workshop is designed for women ages 18 years and older, though girls ages 14 years and older may attend if accompanied by an adult participant.

MDC offers this workshop at no cost to attendees, and will provide all equipment necessary. To attend, participants must preregister by May 18 by contacting Flowers at brian.flowers@mdc.mo.gov or (573)815-7901, ext. 3388.
