Scholastic 3-D Archery Names New York State Coordinator

Louisville, KY - In reaction to the continued growth of their youth archery program, Scholastic 3-D Archery has named Jason Minnamon as the new S3DA New York State Coordinator. As the State Coordinator, Dan will oversee all aspects of the S3DA program in New York, including tournaments, training and dividing the state into regions that will allow S3DA participants multiple monthly competition venues as close as possible to their home location. Jason will also recruit and hire Regional Coordinators to oversee and manage these individual regions.

"With the tremendous growth experienced in all levels of shooting sports, the S3DA Program fills a great void between the sport of archery and the connection with the outdoors," says Jason Minnamon. "The team here at Pinnacle is extremely excited to engage the rest of our state and become a catalyst for other schools, clubs and pro shops to continue the growth of youth archery in our region."

Born in southwestern Montana and raised in upstate New York, Jason is an avid outdoorsman and competitive archer. The outdoors has always played a very important role in his life, whether it was growing up or recovering as a disabled United States Marine Corps veteran, he has always turned to the outdoors as a sanctuary. Jason currently volunteers as the Director of Shooting Sports for The Pinnacle Athletic Campus located in Victor, New York and oversees all shooting sports activities including programming, education and special events. In addition, Jason coaches and mentors youth and disabled veterans and is certified with USA Archery. In his spare time he volunteers as a high school varsity football coach and is certified as a professional coach with the State of NY.

As a husband and father of 5 (4 boys from 12 to 18 and a 2 year old daughter), Jason has found that shooting sports has had the largest life long impact in reaching and mentoring youth and even adults. "While participation in traditional athletics is steadily declining, we have seen a significant amount of growth in shooting sports," adds Jason. "I feel in our region this is the direct result of over emphasis placed on the top 1% of athletes. The remaining young athletes look for something to fill that void. The research I have done on the S3DA organization shows that Scholastic 3-D Archery is perfectly structured to give those that want to participate in shooting sports, and specifically 3-D archery, a fantastic opportunity to compete as individuals

in a structured program that will give them opportunities as they grow."

"Jason has an extensive background in coaching youth sports in general and specifically in archery," says Micael Lundeen, National Director for Scholastic 3-D Archery. "S3DA is fortunate to have him on board and because of his involvement, the state of New York will soon become a force to be reckoned with.

Started in December 2012 by the Scholastic Archery Association, S3DA has grown exponentially as a next step program to follow introductory programs offered as part of 4-H or the National Archery in Schools Program. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving thousands of young archers, grades 3–12.
