S3DA Names North Carolina Coordinator

Louisville, KY - Scholastic 3-D Archery has named Renee Griffith as the new S3DA North Carolina State Coordinator. As the State Coordinator, Renee will oversee all aspects of the S3DA program in North Carolina, including tournaments, training and dividing the state into regions that will allow S3DA participants multiple monthly competition venues as close as possible to their home location. Renee will also recruit and hire Regional Coordinators to oversee and manage these individual regions.

"Finding Renee was a stroke of luck that will be hard to duplicate," says Michael Lundeen, National Director for S3DA. "S3DA is a much richer organization with her at the helm of North Carolina. Renee and Bobby are incredible people who love educating kids. Renee has already accomplished so much and I have no doubt that she will hit the ground running."

"My husband Bobby, is an avid outdoorsman and bowhunter and I am passionate about children and education," says Renee Griffith, New S3DA Coordinator for North Carolina. "S3DA seemed like the perfect fit for us because we can combine our passion for the outdoors with a way to help children."

Renee and Bobby have 3 boys and an adopted daughter. Married 25 years, they have also helped raise 43 foster children. Renee is the principal of a private school and Bobby works in operations at an electric company. Renee has also served as an elected county official for 4 years and is currently working on her Masters Degree. Although her husband Bobby lost his right leg helping a stranded motorist, he doesn't let his handicap disable him. "We were high school sweethearts", adds Renee. "He is truly an inspiration to anyone who meets him. Bobby has hunted all over the world including killing a bear with his bow in Alaska. He is also headed to New Zealand to hunt in April."

Started in December 2012 by the Scholastic Archery Association, S3DA has grown exponentially as a next step program to follow introductory programs offered as part of 4-H or the National Archery in Schools Program. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving thousands of young archers, grades 3–12.
