Trophies Awarded in 2016 S. Dakota NASP Tournament

PIERRE, S.D. -- Young archers from across South Dakota gathered in Rapid City on April 2, and Yankton on April 9, to claim top honors in the 2016 National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) state tournament. The tournaments are sponsored by SD Game, Fish and Parks (GFP).

This year's tournaments were held in two locations to increase the opportunities for schools to attend. Top individuals and teams in the Elementary, Middle School and High School Divisions received trophies and overall top individual scores were awarded customized bows supplied by GFP.

The top teams include:

Elementary
1. Cheyenne Eagle Butte
2. Gettysburg
3. Rockyford

Middle School
1. RC East Middle
2. Gettysburg
3. OLL-Porcupine

High School
1. Avon
2. Dakota Christian
3. Rapid City Central

The top individuals in the Elementary Division were:
1. Matthew Birkeland, Jones County
2. Brock Ducheneaux, Cheyenne Eagle Butte
3. Elijah Brewer, Cheyenne Eagle Butte

The top individuals in the Middle School Division were:
1. Cameron Sybesma, Dakota Christian
2. Calob Two Hearts, Our Lady of Lourdes
3. Ty Godkin, RC East Middle

The top individuals in the High School Division were:
1. Jacob Birkeland, Jones County
2. Austin Stromberg, McCook Central
3. Tanner Williamson, Rapid City Central
