S3DA to Host Ky. Outdoor Adventure Games 3D Tournament

Louisville, KY – Month Day, year – Scholastic 3D Archery, in conjunction with the London-Laurel County Tourism Commission, will be hosting a 3D Archery tournament for the Kentucky Outdoor Adventure Games, in London, KY on October 17, 2015. The tournament will be using ASA rules and classes with awards given out to each class. Registration for the tournament is available at infos3darchery@gmail.com.

"What a wonderful opportunity for S3DA students and parents," said Jennie Richardson, S3DA Executive Director. "Scholastic 3-D Archery is excited to have a partnership with the state of Kentucky and the Kentucky Tourism Committee to offer a 3-D archery event during the Adventure Games."
The Kentucky Outdoor Adventure Games is an initiative started by Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear in his last year of office. The Games involve 13 separate events that will take place all around Kentucky throughout the month of October. These events include a variety of outdoor activities such as fishing, archery, biking, and more.

"The varied events featured in the Kentucky Outdoor Adventure Games will showcase outdoor recreation venues and events that promote good health and adventure tourism in Kentucky," Kentucky's First Lady Jane Beshear said. "I invite Kentuckians and our out-of-state guests to attend and experience these games so they can learn more about the Commonwealth's exciting adventure and opportunities."

"These events represent both the quality and quantity of outdoor adventure opportunities available throughout Kentucky," said Elaine Wilson, director of the Office of Adventure Tourism. "From eastern Kentucky to western Kentucky and all points in-between, there are numerous locations to experience the vast natural resources Kentucky has to offer. We hope these events will inspire Kentuckians to get out and try new adventures or visit a new place."

S3DA provides 3-D archery opportunities for youth in afterschool settings, as well as with archery-affiliated clubs and businesses in their communities. S3DA places special emphasis on archery education, conservation, and bowhunting. Started in December 2012 by the Scholastic Archery Association, S3DA has grown exponentially as a next step program to follow introductory programs offered as part of 4-H or the National Archery in Schools Program. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting.

The program currently serves thousands of young archers across the United States in grades 3–12.
