S3DA Receives $100K Grant from Cabela's Outdoor Fund

Cabela's Outdoor Fund awards grant to Scholastic 3-D Archery (S3DA)
Louisville, KY – Aug. 27, 2015 – The Cabela's Outdoor Fund, with a mission to promote conservation and hunting, fishing, camping, boating and other outdoor sporting and recreational activities, has awarded a $100,000 grant to the Scholastic 3D Archery program. S3DA provides 3-D archery opportunities for youth in afterschool settings, as well as with archery-affiliated clubs and businesses in their communities. The Scholastic 3-D Archery program places special emphasis on archery education, conservation, and bowhunting.

"This is a game changer for us," says Jennie Richardson, Executive Director of Scholastic 3-D Archery. "This generous grant from Cabela's Outdoor Fund will positively impact every level of our organization. From internal operations, opportunities for clubs at local Cabela's stores to helping S3DA establish active programs in every state and even to begin expanding internationally. This grant will make a real difference for youth 3-D archery and aspiring bowhunters. Cabela's is one of the most respected names in the outdoor industry and to have this level of support from them is an incredible step forward for S3DA."

Cabela's Outdoor Fund is a non-profit organization dedicated to youth education and the promotion, conservation and improvement of wildlife and wildlife habitat, hunting, fishing, camping and other outdoor sporting and recreational activities. Cabela's Outdoor Fund contributes to other like-minded organizations across the United States that are working to make the great outdoors better.

"Scholastic 3-D Archery has done an amazing job introducing youth to the outdoors and archery," said Jeremy Wonch, Vice President of Cabela's Outdoor Fund. "Cabela's Outdoor Fund is thrilled to support Scholastic 3D Archery and its efforts toward providing a safe and fun environment for youth to explore their outdoor passions."

"I can't personally think of a better endorsement of our efforts to introduce young folks into archery and ultimately bowhunting than for Cabela's to join our team with a huge grant," says Dirk Dieterich, Pope & Young Club and S3DA Board Member. "Our thanks to the entire Cablea's community for their overwhelming support and our solemn promise to put their funds to good use in our Clear Path Initiative."

"Having Cabela's support S3DA comes at a perfect time. S3DA is growing by leaps and bounds," says Steve Dalp, Production Manager for Bear Archery and S3DA Board Member. "These funds will be put to good use, providing resources for young archers that enter the program."

Started in December 2012 by the Scholastic Archery Association, S3DA has grown exponentially as a next step program to follow introductory programs offered as part of 4-H or the National Archery in Schools Program. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates in 24 states with hundreds of certified coaches serving thousands of young archers across the Untied States in grades 3 through12.
