P&Y Provides Whitetail Data to State Agencies

Chatfield, MN – The Pope & Young Club recently sent a complimentary copy of the Bowhunting Records of North American Whitetail Deer, 4th Edition and the 29th Recording Period Statistical Summary to all state Fish & Game departments across the United States. One of the purposes of the Pope & Young Club's Records Program is to disseminate information from the archives to wildlife professionals so they may have a clear picture of
the success of each individual species.

The Records archives provide many valuable functions for bowhunting and for wildlife, including:
1. to document for posterity the finest examples of North American big game animals

2. to provide undisputed evidence of the effectiveness of the bow and arrow as a hunting tool

3. to promote the ideals of fair chase and sportsmanship

4. traces the past and present health of wildlife populations

5. provides ample evidence of the continued success of traditional wildlife management, and the importance of hunting within that management

At the end of each two-year recording period, the Pope & Young Club publishes a statistical summary listing all Records Program entries during that two-year period. The 29th Biennium includes entries accepted into the archives from 1/1/13 to
12/31/14.
Part of the 29th Recording Period Statistical Summary includes the "Distribution and Growth Statistics" and "Hunt Characteristic Graphs" which come from select
information taken from the archives and individual entries.
Bowhunting Records of North American Whitetail Deer is the fourth whitetail-specific publication from the P&Y Records archives. Published in 2015, the book contains detailed information on more than 60,000 whitetail deer specimen, listed by state/province, entered in the P&Y Records through December 31, 2014.

The Pope & Young Club is a non-profit North American conservation and bowhunting organization dedicated to the promotion and protection of our bowhunting heritage, hunting ethics and wildlife conservation. The Club also maintains the universally recognized repository for the records and statistics on North American big game animals harvested with a bow and arrow.
