The Pope & Young Club crowns three new World's Records at the 2015 convention in Phoenix, Az.

Chatfield, MN - May 14th, 2015 – The 2015 Pope & Young Club convention is now in the books. The convention, held in Phoenix, was an unrivaled success from every point of view. One of the many highlights was the crowning of three new World's

Records during the 29th Biennium awards banquet on Saturday evening, April 18.

29th Biennium New World's Records –

Brian Benyo, from Berlin Center, Ohio, successfully stalked to
within 25 yards to get a shot at this incredible Desert bighorn
from Tiburon Island, Mexico. Brian's giant ram scored 179 3/8
and was crowned the new P&Y World's Record. The old
World's Record Desert bighorn sheep scored 178 6/8, taken in
Hidalgo County, New Mexico, in 2007, by Jim Hens.

Rodney Debias, from Windber, Pennsylvania, capitalized with a
perfect 30-yard shot after a stand-off at 10 yards with this
bruiser of a grizzly bear from Unalakleet, Alaska. Rodney's
bear scored 27 1/16 and was crowned the new P& Y World's
Record. This monster grizzly is also the largest grizzly bear
taken by a hunter with any weapon. The old World's Record
grizzly bear is 26 3/16, also taken in Unalakleet, Alaska, in
2004, by Dennis Dunn.

Jeff Samson, from Middle Ridge, Newfoundland, stalked an
exceptional looking bull caribou to within 15 yards. With a
single fatal bow shot, an extraordinary specimen of
unparalleled size would shatter the existing P&Y World's
Record by almost 30 inches. Jeff's newly crowned World's
Record Woodland caribou scored 375 0/8 and is the first
to receive the Ishi award since 2005. The old World's Record
Woodland caribou is 345 2/8 taken in Victoria River,
Newfoundland, in 1966 by Dempsey Cape.
