Morgan Wins With Last Arrow, at Final Bedford IBO Event

Uniontown, PA – World Champion 3-D archer and host of Name The Game TV, Levi Morgan, dug deep and found the resolve to claim victory on his last arrow of the final shoot off, during this year's first leg of the IBO Triple Crown, held in Bedford, Indiana; May 15-17. The Pro Division of the IBO sanctioned 3-D event features a total of 20 unmarked targets shot on Day 1 and 20 unmarked targets shot on Day 2. Contestants shoot each target twice per day, scored as 5 (non-vital body), 8, 10, and 11-point rings per target, thus a perfect possible score of 440. Target distances varied in range out to a maximum of approximately 50 yards. No range finding equipment is allowed at the IBO unmarked event, putting additional pressure on shooters to accurately judge distances.

After contracting a severe stomach illness the night before the tournament began, Morgan found himself heading into round one after a rough, sleepless night. Despite the set back, he came out strong, hitting 3 of 5 elevens, but an 8 shortly thereafter caused him to rethink his game plan. The steep terrain and windy conditions called for added focus and he found elevens on 9 of his final 14 targets to come in at 210, just 1 pt off the lead.

Day two found Morgan paired with the top shooters and still coping with the severe stomach illness that plagued him the prior day. Picked to shoot first on the dimly lit morning, Morgan shot an 8 on his first target, the fallow deer, while two of his three fellow shooters hit elevens. Morgan quickly found himself in the "chase" position once again.

"I knew I couldn't afford to be less than perfect the rest of the day," said Morgan. "I just put my head down and asked the Good Lord to guide my arrows. He did just that and I hit targets that I probably shouldn't have."

When the dust settled, Morgan and Tim Gillingham were tied at 420 and 24 elevens. It came down to a single arrow shoot off to determine the winner, with closest to the center taking home the victory.

"I can't believe after all the obstacles of the weekend, that I was able to come out on top. It sure makes it sweeter to know at one point I though winning was going to be impossible," stated Morgan. "That's why we shoot every arrow like the tournament is riding on it because for all we know it could be."
