Groups Fund Wildlife Cooperative Coordinator Position for MUCC

Michigan United Conservation Clubs (MUCC), the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the Quality Deer Management Association, and Pheasants Forever (PF) have collaborated to fund a new https://mucc.org/mucc-welcomes-anna-mitterling/">wildlife cooperative coordinator position, housed at MUCC.

Anna Mitterling, who is filling this position, will assist in creating, implementing, and maintaining wildlife cooperatives around the state to create, maintain, and improve wildlife habitat.

"QDMA is proud and excited to be a part of this unprecedented partnership," said Michael Goyne, president of QDMA's Michigan Advisory Council. "Cooperation between the DNR and like-minded conservation organizations uniquely leverages financial and intellectual resources to achieve common goals. Hunter management and habitat management are two of QDMA's key cornerstones. This new position directly impacts both and will ultimately improve the experience of Michigan deer hunters."

To help fund the position, the QDMA Michigan Advisory Council and QDMA Branches in Michigan raised $5,000. The QDMA National Office also provided $5,000 and additionally agreed to match the funds raised locally. In total, QDMA's contribution to the position was $15,000 for 2015, with a commitment to contribute additional funds in 2016 and 2017.

QDMA members might already be familiar with Anna's graduate work at Michigan State University that showed http://www.qdma.com/news/deer-hunters-in-qdm-cooperatives-enjoy-higher-hunting-satisfaction">Deer Hunters in QDM Cooperatives Enjoy Higher Hunting Satisfaction.
