Outdoor News, Inc., Online Audience Exceeds 1.3 Million

(Plymouth, Minn.) - Outdoor News, Inc., a 46-year publisher of locally written fishing and hunting outdoor newspapers in seven Great Lake states, announced continued growth in the number of visitors to the company's multi-layered website, OutdoorNews.com

"Outdoor News has enjoyed a growing subscriber base in our print titles for many years," said Rob Drieslein, president of Outdoor News. The business publishes newspapers in Minnesota 52 times a year and in Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York 26 times a year. "But the growth in our digital audience is up 33 percent year over year, which is remarkable given we ended 2013 up 50 percent from the previous year," Drieslein said. The number of visitors to OutdoorNews.com had surpassed 1.3 million through the first week of December 2014 with overall page views up over 24 percent compared to the same period in 2013.

The company's website includes a section dedicated to each of the seven states that contain published titles, as well as national news and a dedicated cooking component tied to the Taste of the Wild features that readers of the printed editions follow. A robust blogging network by experts in the outdoor industry, such as Freshwater Hall of Fame inductee, "Tackle" Terry Tuma, and award-winning writers including Tony Peterson, Mike Schoonveld, and Bill Hilts, Jr., provide visitors to OutdoorNews.com with regular tips and updates on issues valuable to hunters and anglers.

"In addition to the audience that engages with us digitally through the core website, the following behind Outdoor News continues to grow through social media pillars including Facebook and Twitter. We've also rolled out a weekly eNewsletter that reveals an open rate averaging over 41 percent," Drieslein said, before noting: "Statistically, the open rates on email marketing campaigns in the media and publishing industry average in the 16.5-17.75 percent range, so our high conversion demonstrates a strong following." The eNewsletter is an opt-in feature available through registration at OutdoorNews.com.
