Scholastic 3-D Archery Names Jeremy Blackmon Southern National Coordinator

Williamsburg, KY – Scholastic 3-D Archery has named Jeremy Blackmon of Pensacola, FL as the Southern National Coordinator which will add another level of leadership within the program in the southern states by increasing communication from the national to local level, as well as ensuring that there is consistency in following the rules, mission, and ethical stance of the S3DA program. Jeremy Blackmon was born and raised in Pensacola, FL where he still lives today. He became interested in hunting at an early age by being around his dad and grandfather but really caught the archery bug at the age of 8 when he spent the first week of archery season camping with his grandfather.

Blackmon has spent most of his adult life in the archery industry, working in various roles from pro shops to manufacturing since 1990. The last few years he has worked as a product development consultant for companies within the archery industry. However, in 2017, Jeremy and his wife Kathy decided that it was time to really get back to what they loved about the archery industry that has been such an important part of Jeremy’s life, so they started Omega Archery Products, a company that creates high-end accessories such as carbon stabilizers.

Jeremy and Kathy have two married daughters, a son, and a grandson. They are active in various archery programs including ASA (Archery Shooters Association) and BHA (Bow Hunters of Alabama) and are very excited about the opportunity to become more involved with the S3DA program in the Southern states. Blackmon states, “I believe the S3DA program is a very useful tool to not only get youth involved in the sport of archery but to teach them the important lessons of safe and ethical bowhunting, and conservation. S3DA has shown tremendous growth because kids are excited about the competitive format and the ability to use a variety of equipment. S3DA has a bright future ahead and I am proud to be a part of the future growth of the program.”

“We want to ensure that the S3DA program is being implemented in the same manner, with rules equally carried out, across the United States. We also want to support our individual states to ensure they have the necessary information, and assistance, to carry out this mission,” said S3DA Executive Director, Jennie Richardson. Richardson further stated, “I feel that the addition of Jeremy Blackmon as Southern National Coordinator will bring a multi-dimensional level of leadership to the southern states as he is very experienced in the manufacturing, retail, and tournament areas. I’m excited to see all aspects of his leadership come into play in the future.”

Started in December 2012 by the Scholastic Archery Association, S3DA has grown exponentially as a next step program to follow introductory programs offered as part of 4-H or the National Archery in Schools Program.  S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting.  The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving

thousands of young archers, grades 3–12.
