Whitetails Unlimited is once again partnering with the Environmental Education Association of Illinois on the Whitetails Unlimited Growing Up WILD Whitetails Series. Growing Up WILD is a nature-based early childhood program which teaches children ages 3-7 nature appreciation, science, and wildlife, especially in relation to the white-tailed deer which is the Illinois state mammal. WTU has been a staple in the program since 2012, contributing $9,500 toward the training series. The training series provides wildlife education training to various educators in the state of Illinois whether it be formal (classroom) or non-formal (nature center). To date the program has trained more than 700 educators, who in turn have taught over 100,000 students.
“Programs like Growing Up WILD are essential to the progress of the outdoor industry,” says Program Services Director Russ Austad. “EEAI is doing a phenomenal job growing and expanding this program to reach more people.”
