Critical Conservation Programs to Receive Funding for FY 2020

Over the past few weeks, the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) and partners in the sporting conservation community have urged Members of Congress to support significant funding for many pro-sporting related programs within the upcoming FY 2020 appropriations budget.

The window for Members of Congress to submit their appropriations requests to the House Appropriations Committee and respective Subcommittees closes within the next couple of weeks. Largely led by Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus (CSC) Members, some of the priorities that await funding for critical conservation programs include:

  • North American Wetlands Conservation Act (ask your U.S. Representative to support this)
  • Chronic Wasting Disease management and studies
  • National Fish Habitat Conservation
  • Wildlife Migration Corridors
  • National Wildlife Refuges
  • And the exemption of lead fishing tackle under the Toxic Substances Control Act

CSF looks forward to working with Appropriations Chairwoman Representative Nita Lowey, CSC Member and Ranking Member Representative Kay Granger, and the Committee to ensure that sufficient funding is provided to programs that will benefit sportsmen and women as well as fish and wildlife populations and their associated habitats.
