"Project Runway" finalist Laura Bennett Shelton, a champion archer and fashion designer, will be a featured coach at USA Archery's Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) Camp being hosted by Lancaster Archery Academy July 30 - Aug. 2.

Shooting an Olympic recurve bow, Shelton has been racking up some impressive finishes at some of the world's biggest tournaments the past two years. Most recently, she took home the silver medal in the women's Master Class at World Archery's 2015 Championships of the Americas tournament in May. A month earlier, she won USA Archery's U.S. National Indoor Championships in the Female Master 50+ division.

In February, Shelton cracked the top-25 at the National Field Archery Association's World Archery Festival in Las Vegas, and posted the seventh-highest score among American women.

Last year, Shelton was part of the six-member team – three men and three women – to represent the United States in the World Indoor Archery Championships in Nimes, France.

Away from the archery range, Shelton, a mother of six and author of two books, earned national fame in 2006 as a finalist on the Bravo network's hit show, "Project Runway." The reality show follows up-and-coming fashion designers as they compete against one another with their creations.

Shelton will be part of a team of elite instructors teaching youngsters age 8-17 about competitive archery at the USA Archery camp to be held at Lancaster Archery Supply, Inc.'s, complex at 2195-A Old Philadelphia Pike, Lancaster, Pa.

This is a camp for intermediate archers, which means campers have some experience in competitive archery. They will be shooting both Olympic recurve and compound bows. Shelton will be on hand to work with recurve archers July 30 and 31.

Lancaster Archery Academy instructor Laura Reed said campers over the course of four days will learn various physical and mental techniques and skills necessary to become successful tournament archers.

"By the time they leave, they should have a better understanding of the shot process, have new techniques they can practice at home and have better skills to take to future competitions," Reed said.
